Passion Play: Roll Back the Stone
On Friday, 4th April 2025, our Year 5 pupils gave a powerful performance of their Passion Play, “Roll Back the Stone”, at St Botolph’s Church. The church was filled with pupils, staff, and proud parents, all gathered to reflect on the Easter story through drama, narration, and song.
The play followed Jesus’ final days, beginning with his arrival in Jerusalem and leading to the poignant scenes of the Last Supper, where Jesus learned that his disciple Judas would betray him, his crucifixion, and ultimately, his resurrection. Through their words and actions, the children conveyed the emotion and meaning of these events with impressive maturity and understanding.
The performance was brought to life by the narrations and series of heartfelt songs, including ‘Hosanna, Jesus!’, ‘Who Will You Choose?’, ‘Was It Worth It?’, ‘King of the Jews’, and an ensemble finale of ‘Roll Back the Stone’. Several soloists delivered beautiful and confident vocal performances, which added to the play’s emotional impact.
The event was brought to a close by Reverend Gordon MacBean, who offered thoughtful prayer and shared joyful Easter greetings with all those in attendance. His message reinforced the themes of hope and renewal central to the Easter season.
A huge well done to everyone involved in the performance. Year 5 should be incredibly proud of the passion, talent, and teamwork they displayed. Their moving portrayal of the Easter story made a lasting impression on all who attended.

Wishing all our families a peaceful and joyful Easter!
